Nikhil (DOB 04.03.2006) was six and half years old when his mother gifted him a chess board. Father Mr V Magizhnan said, "That gift provided by his mother, has been the catalyst and has brought Nikhil this far. He normally works for about 3 hours a day and loves to play all the time.Boy in hurry is how one can see Nikhil, who added 211 ELOs to his kitty during the just released February 2016 FIDE Rating list.

He's played back to back GM tournaments, the Delhi and Chennai Opens, gaining a whopping 200 plus ELOs. Further, he's travelled immediately to Mumbai to play the IIFL Wealth International chess tournament. That's one month on road for Nikhil, who's all but 9 years old.

Presently this charming boy, with an ELO rating of 1813, is our National Under - 9 Runner Up. Add to that his Gold medal at Asian Schools, Sri Lanka - which got him the Candidate Master title - and Bronze medal in the rapid section of the World Schools @ Thailand last year, you get a fair idea of his accolades. This year he's selected to represent India in the Asian Youth Chess Championships at Mongolia and the World Youth Chess Championships at Georgia. Be not surprised if this boy brings back double GOLD.
