Eligibility

The tournament is open for all players (subject to age-eligibility for the Junior event) however, foreign players who desire to participate should have a valid FIDE ID.

Visa Assistance to Foreign Players

System of Play

The Championship shall be played under the FIDE Laws of Chess for a total of nine (09) rounds.

Time-Control

Each player shall have 90 minutes for 40 moves and 30 minutes for the rest of the game with the addition of 30 seconds per move starting from the first move.

Walkover Time (after Time Control)

Any player who arrives at the chessboard after 30-minutes from the start of the session shall lose the game. Thus the Walkover time is thirty minutes.

The Drawn Game (Article 9.1)

The rules of a competition specify that players cannot draw the game by mutual agreement before 40 moves without the consent of the Arbiter.

Tie-Break

The following tie-breaks (in the order given) shall be applied to determine the final rankings:

  1. Direct Encounter
  2. Buchholz
  3. Median Buchholz 1 & 2
  4. Buchholz Cut 1 & 2
  5. Sonneborn-Berger

Protests

Protests, if any against the decision of the Chief Arbiter, shall be made in writing with a protest fee of Rs.500/- within 30 minutes of the occurrence of the incident. The amount shall be refunded if the appeal is upheld.

Appeals Committee

A seven-member Committee of Appeals (inclusive of 2-reserves) shall be formed from amongst players/officials/coaches present on the Inaugural day. The decisions of the Appeals Committee would be final and binding on all the participants.

Interpretation

For interpretation of the Rule(s) and for deciding any point not covered by the above rules of the tournament, the decision of the tournament committee shall be final and binding on all. The tournament committee has every right to make any addition or amendment to these rules, without notice. Such changes shall, however, be displayed in the tournament hall.

MCA Registration 2016 – 2017 (for Maharashtra Players)

Players from the State of Maharashtra are also required to obtain MCA Registration for the year 2015-2016 by sending an amount of Rs.150/- towards MCA registration fee along with the duly filled and signed MCA player’s registration form plus one passport size photograph. Registration counter would be set-up at the venue from 27/12/2016 to assist players in registration however, such process should be completed before the end of round 4 on 29/12/2016

ACIF Registration 2016 – 2017 (for Indian Players Only)

All the participants must be registered with AICF for the year 2016-2017. Application forms are available in the website: www.aicf.in. Those who have paid the AICF Registration fee but are yet to receive the AICF Registration number should send a photo copy of the acknowledgment for having paid the fee to organizers of earlier tournaments or to their association. Those who have not registered with AICF for the year 2016-17 should send an amount of Rs.250/- towards AICF registration fee along with the duly filled and signed AICF player’s registration form.

Dress Code

The official ‘Dress Code’ of the event is T-shirts with sponsor’s logo. All the players would be provided with T-shirts before the start of the event. Players are required to be attired in T-shirt and they will not be allowed to play if found otherwise. The T-shirt should be visible at all the time

Instructions for Parents/Accompanying Persons

The playing area is the ‘Indoor Stadium’ of Mount Litera School International, which is located on P3 basement Parents and Accompanying persons are strictly forbidden to enter the playing area at any stage of the tournament. Violation of rules will attract a penalty of Rs.5,000/- (Rs. Five Thousand Only).


Seating arrangements for parents/accompanying persons has been arranged in near to the playing arena. Provisions have been made to view the games 'Live'. Also, we would be running chess themes like movie, interactive sessions with prominent chess personalities, etc.We expect your co-operation to ensure smooth conduct of the tournament.
